Overspeed protectors are overspeed safety devices designed to safely shut down steam, gas and hydraulic turbines of all sizes when an overspeed event is detected. The device uses active or passive speed sensors to precisely monitor the speed of the turbine rotor and issue a stop command to the turbine gate gate valve or the corresponding trip system.
